Cipriano Vargas is a dedicated and passionate advocate for education, he was first elected in 2016 and is seeking re-election for a third term. A proud product of Vista public schools, Cipriano has a deep-rooted commitment to the community and a firsthand understanding of the transformative power of education.

 

As the first in his family to graduate from college, Cipriano's personal journey highlights the importance of accessible and quality education. This milestone not only shaped his life but fueled his determination to create similar opportunities for every student in the district. Cipriano believes in the potential of every child and works tirelessly to ensure that they have the resources and support needed to succeed.

During the challenging times brought about by the pandemic, Cipriano demonstrated strong leadership as the president of the school board. His strategic decision-making and unwavering dedication to the well-being of students, teachers, and families played a crucial role in navigating the complexities of education during such unprecedented circumstances. Cipriano's ability to lead with empathy and prioritize the needs of the community showcases his commitment to fostering a resilient and thriving educational environment. Most recently, Vista Unified was one of 4 school districts in San Diego County to be awarded over $12 million dollars to support Community Schools initiative.
